Living the Beauty - Experiencing Beauty
Keywords:
beauty, theological aesthetics, Dietrich von Hildebrand, phenomenology, Christian philosophyAbstract
This study examines the theological and phenomenological dimensions of beauty, with particular reference to Dietrich von Hildebrand’s aesthetics. It argues that beauty is not merely an aesthetic category but a deeply personal and narrative event that reveals transcendence and truth. The paper places special emphasis on the Christian reinterpretation of classical beauty through the Christ-event, especially the beauty manifested in the crucifixion. By connecting value experience, narrativity, and theological hermeneutics, the study highlights the cultural and philosophical significance of beauty in contemporary Christian thought.
