Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The manuscript is the authors’ original work; it has not been published previously and is not under consideration elsewhere.
  • The manuscript falls within the journal’s scope and meets the requirements of the selected section.
  • The manuscript complies with publication ethics standards; all relevant funding, conflicts of interest, and required permissions have been disclosed.
  • The manuscript does not contain plagiarism; all sources used and all reproduced material have been properly cited.
  • The manuscript complies with the journal’s formatting, language, and referencing requirements.
  • Any non-routine use of generative AI has been disclosed in the manuscript; the authors remain fully responsible for the submitted content.
  • All listed authors have made a substantial scholarly contribution to the work and have approved the submitted version.

Author Guidelines

Manuscript Language

  • Hungarian
  • English

Submission Types and Length

  • Research Article: up to 8,000 words.
  • Review: up to 3,000 words.

Required Data

  • For Research Articles: author name, affiliation (institution, city, country), ORCID, English title, English abstract, and English keywords.
  • For Reviews: the full bibliographic details of the reviewed work are also required.

Format

  • The manuscript must be submitted as a single .docx (Microsoft Word) file.
  • Main text: Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.15 line spacing.
  • Footnotes: Times New Roman, 10 pt, 1.15 line spacing.
  • For Hebrew, Greek, and other non-Latin scripts, please use Unicode-compatible fonts.
  • Do not use boldface, underlining, or expanded letter spacing for emphasis in the running text; where appropriate, use italics.

Manuscript Structure

  • Research Article: title; author name(s); affiliation(s); ORCID; English title; English abstract; English keywords; introduction; structured main text; conclusions; relevant statements; bibliography.
  • Review: title; author; affiliation; ORCID; bibliographic details of the reviewed work; review text.

Referencing

  • All references must be given in footnotes; do not use endnotes or in-text citations.
  • Biblical references should appear in the main text.
  • Footnotes must follow an author-date system. For specific passages, the page number follows the publication year after a colon; multiple references are separated by semicolons.

Reference List

  • The Reference List must include all works cited in the footnotes.
  • Where available, DOI information must also be provided.

The journal does not charge any submission fee, article processing charge, publication fee, or any other author fee related to the publication of a manuscript.

Research Articles

Original research articles submitted for peer review in biblical, historical, systematic, and practical theology, as well as in related disciplines closely connected with theological research.

Book Reviews

Critical reviews of recent scholarly publications of significance for theology and related disciplines.
