Abstract

The study presents the preparatory process for the Ordinary Synod of Bishops 2023–24 in the light of documents reflecting on the listening and reflexive phases at different levels. For this reason, the current Synod process is first briefly described, and then the author summarises the insights of the documents presented on liturgical celebration. From all this, we can conclude that, although the interest of the current Synod of Bishops has not turned directly towards the liturgy, the processes of listening and discernment have already made clear the reciprocal determining relationship between the synodal ecclesial life and the liturgical celebration of the ecclesial communities. The study can thus contribute to the dialogue between ecclesiology and liturgical theology and to the reflection of the synodal process on the life of local churches.
