When we look at our age, we ask ourselves: 'where do we go from here' or 'what will become of man'? The following article offers us a particular answer, based on the work of Leclercq, who describes postmodern man as virtual, without much affection for theology, but capable of creating something new. Following Leclercq's itinerary, we can see how, from monastic theology, through scholasticism, with the discoveries of the modern world, we arrive at the postmodern, where man becomes one of thousands. This world prepares the way for something new, in which God will also be present.
